We live in a rural area, but we love to shop on Amazon. Some drivers can’t find an unlocked door during random weekdays and assume that our church is closed. I get it and am happy to help, but I’m glad that church is more than a building and doesn’t close when services end.
Christians ARE the church. Some people use that as an excuse to skip services, but our relationship with Jesus should challenge us to do more for Him and to spend more time with fellow Christians who have the same goals. 1 Corinthians 12:26-27 says, “And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.” Churches that only exist during service times barely exist at all. Now don’t get me wrong, we desperately need church services, times when we gather together to worship and learn more about our Savior. But that’s never supposed to be the end of it! We need the “pep rally,” but then we need to go get busy in the “game” afterward. We need spiritual meals to give us strength and encouragement, but then we need to use that strength to impact people all around us.
It’s Monday, and church buildings are mostly empty, but I hope all Christians are actively being the church. We need each other and the world needs our Savior!
