Jen and I were all set to enjoy a nice paddleboat ride. We pushed the boat a few feet e into the pond and then saw the first of at least 3 snakes that were under the boat! We accidentally trapped that one under the boat, and it soon died by decapitation (thankfully because Lundys don’t like snakes!). After all of that we decided to skip the paddleboat ride, but one thing is clear: a snake can ruin almost anything (at least for our family).
Snakes are creepy! They sneakily slither into little places and can stay hidden until they cause a problem. There are a lot of “snakes” that can ruin anything for anyone, and I wanna talk about one right now: selfishness. Philippians 2:4 challenges us to “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” It might seem like “looking out for #1, me” might be the easiest way to have a great time and always get what you want, but it’s actually one of the quickest ways to ruin anything. If you want joy in your life, focus more on the needs of others. Let’s put others first and watch how God meets your needs.
