One bite at a time—at least that’s what I’ve heard; I’ve never actually tried! How do you climb a big wall? One step at a time! Have you ever seen a kid stare up at a huge rock wall and be overwhelmed with the thought of climbing it? They can make it if they do it one step at a time, one foot in front of the other (or above the other in this case!).
How do Christians become more like Jesus? One step at a time! In the Old Testament time of Isaiah the people were rejecting God and going their own way, not caring what God had to say. God made it as simple as could be for them to learn and apply truth to their lives. Isaiah 28:13 says, “But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.”
Tragically they still wouldn’t listen, understand, AND OBEY and faced some serious consequences because of this choice. Do you read the Bible “here a little, and there a little”? Is God’s Word a part of your daily life? There’s a lot in the Bible to take in, but are we working to make sure our lives match up with the Bible one verse at a time?
Apparently you can eat an elephant if you do it one bite at a time. And the girls could climb an enormous wall if they do it one step at a time. We can become a little more and a little more like our Savior if we get busy every day learning more about Him and living more like Him.
