Can You Spot the Turtle?

I’ll give you a hint: Sometimes you gotta come up for air. It’s been a fantastic week so far here for teen camp at The Edge! The room where Jen and I stay is right by this pond, and we’ve enjoyed several FaceTime frog hunts with the girls, and yesterday I spotted this turtle coming up to get a breath. I tried to get a closer picture, but as soon as I moved it ducked back under!

Turtles often stay right in the middle of the water and just pop up for air as needed. This world we’re right in the middle of can get difficult, even suffocating sometimes, but that’s why it’s so important to “come up for air” spiritually by relying on God Who is strong enough to keep us going.

Acts 17:24-25 says, “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.” Those verses are part of a message to a group of people who divided their faith among a bunch of gods. But only the One true God is real, the Creator and Sustainer of life.

Verse 28 says, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being.” No wonder life gets so difficult when we move away from God! We need God! We need to come up for air spiritually OFTEN.

A drowning turtle could blame the water all it wants, but instead it should  Come. Up. For. Air. We are as close to God as we want to be, as we choose to be, and if you feel like you’re drowning in circumstances today, come up for air by coming to God.
