A lens to look at things through

Addison and Brooklyn both look great in their new glasses! They can’t believe how much more clearly they can see! The right way to look at things makes all the difference.

In Job 28, Job digs into the importance of wisdom, the right way for all of us to look at life: “But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; Neither is it found in the land of the living.” ‭‭(Job‬ ‭28‬:‭12‬-‭13‬)

He goes on to look at how God has perfect wisdom: “God understandeth the way thereof, And he knoweth the place thereof. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, And seeth under the whole heaven; To make the weight for the winds; And he weigheth the waters by measure.” (Job‬ ‭28‬:‭23‬-‭25‬)

Then in verse 28, Job tells us how God gives us access to His wisdom: “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.”

If we get this, we’ll have the right viewpoint for everything else.

And if we skip the fear of the Lord, nothing else will be clear.

God deserves our respect. His opinion should matter more to us than our own. We should look to Him for wisdom instead of explaining to Him why our view is right (we might not put it that way, but it’s an all-too-easy temptation to fall into when pride creeps in!).

Today’s Bible reading is Job 28.
