Leave It Alone!

Bella is NOT impressed with this new inflatable cone! Thankfully she doesn’t have to wear it much. It’s amazing that the only reason she ever has to wear a cone is that she won’t leave her wound alone. I understand it probably itches and hurts some, but if she would just leave it alone instead of going back after it she would never have to wear a cone.

Dogs have a lot of bad habits that they keep coming back to, but it’s even worse when people won’t leave sinful behavior alone. Proverbs 26:11 says, “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.” Thankfully our dog isn’t sick, and I wouldn’t post a picture of THAT even if she were! It’s absolutely disgusting for a dog to go back and eat it’s vomit, but it’s way worse when we keep going back to sinful choices. .

Even if you don’t have any sinful bad habits that you won’t leave alone, notice the very next verse: “Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.” As bad as it is to keep going back to foolish activity, it’s even more hopeless to have so much pride that we don’t even notice what needs to change in our lives.

Let’s be willing to leave sinful habits alone instead of going back to them, and let’s always stay humble and be willing to change when we need to.
