Who Did It?!?

As a family, we definitely have to figure out who did it sometimes if we find a bunch of empty candy wrappers or a huge mess around the house. But thankfully we also have times when we see something sweet or generous and wonder which of our girls did it. It’s easy  look for someone to blame instead of noticing who deserves praise.
To see encouraging posts like this every day:

In 1 Samuel 30, David and his soldiers were in a tough spot—while they were away at a battle, invaders came in, stole their stuff, and kidnapped their families. David went after the enemy, but some of the men were so exhausted they couldn’t be part of the rescue. At the time, that was all good, but once God gave victory, some of the other soldiers wanted to punish the ones who had rested.

1 Samuel 30:22-23 says, “Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart. 23 Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.”

God gave the victory, not any of the soldiers, but instead of pointing to Him and giving Him credit, these guys wanted to point at problems. I think all of us can fall into that same trap—blaming or criticizing people instead of pointing to God as the One Who gives victory.

Let’s stop looking for someone to get mad at and start looking at everything God has done for us. He deserves the credit, and we can all use the encouragement instead of finding one more thing to be upset about.
