Ivory soap really does expand a whole lot in the microwave! We were amazed just how much it grew and how it became almost like snow. I accidentally bought Dove soap at first thinking that was the right brand!🤦♂️ As you can see, that one didn’t do much! Apparently different soaps react differently when the heat gets turned up, and people do too.
1 Corinthians 3:12-15 says, “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
Christians have Jesus as the foundation of our lives, but we still need to choose to build every part of our lives on that foundation instead of going our own way. If we’ve trusted Jesus as our personal Savior, our salvation is forever secure, but God does reward what’s done for Him. Those are the things that last, the things that really matter.
God uses the illustration of a fire to show that some things we do are worthwhile and others will just “burn up” in the end. Whether it’s this time of reward in Heaven or every day life right now, when the heat gets turned up, we see our real motives.
Because of the air mixed in, Ivory soap grows when heated, and because of Jesus living in us, we can live for what lasts, even when life turns the heat up.
