What is the world coming to! Soda should be soda; bacon should be bacon; Ranch can go away, and PB & J is a sandwich! You probably couldn’t pay me to try to pumpkin pie or buffalo wing soda, and peeps cereal…really?!? Those things can all be great on their own but don’t need to try to be something they aren’t!
All personal opinions aside, you are the best you ever, the only you God ever made and you have no need to try to be something you’re not.
1 Corinthians 12 vividly pictures how each Christian in a church has different gifts and a different purpose. I love the symbols used to describe how weird it would be for each of us to try to be something we aren’t instead of being who God made us to be. Verse 17 says, “If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?” We should all grow more and more like Jesus to become the best version of ourselves, but a big part of that is living out the purpose God created us with.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” You are just right for the purposes God made you for, and there’s nothing better or more fulfilling you could ever do. The most fun I’ve ever had has been serving God and living the life He put me here to live. Instead of trying to be something we aren’t, we get to spend our lives being who God made us to be. So get you a weird soda or some peeps cereal if you need to, and let’s get busy serving the Lord!
