One more political post…but this one matters way beyond Election Day

I hope you voted (if you’re old enough to vote!).

Maybe those you voted for will win. Maybe not. Maybe you’ll just be glad to stop seeing political ads and texts!

The Bible has some excellent wisdom for us all no matter who gets elected.

Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

To disagree with some politicians is good and normal. To disrespect God-given authority is to disrespect God.

God allows them there for a reason.

David gives an amazing example of respecting leaders who do wrong.

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭says, “Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him: and they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.”

David cared about Saul even though he disagreed with Saul.

David respected Saul’s position as God’s anointed king even though Saul was not following the Lord.

And God is always in charge. Never forget what Proverbs 21:1 says: “The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

Today's Bible reading is 2 Samuel 1.
