‭‭ How’d that happen?

You can probably tell that our road got fresh lines painted and someone drove across them (it wasn’t me!🤣).

Some things aren’t hard to figure out, like where evil comes from.

1 Samuel‬ ‭30‬:‭22‬ ‭says, “Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.”

David’s temporary home at Ziklag was attacked while David and the men were out. When they returned, some of his men were so exhausted they couldn’t join the fight to retake the people and stuff that were taken.

Once the battle was won, some wickedly didn’t want to share the spoil even though no one had done anything wrong.

Where’d that evil come from? From some of the men! David had an interesting group, some of whom would go on to do great things. But evil was present. That’s true in any group of people. And really it’s true in each of us as well.

As a song says, “The only thing that’s good in me is Jesus.”

So let’s follow Jesus not our hearts today. Jesus is capable of changing the worst to be Godly, but apart from Jesus we don’t even want to know what we’re capable of.

Today's Bible reading is 1 Samuel 30.
