When we reject God, there’s no good option left (except to run back to Him)
Imitation mango? Actually a delicious ice cream treat made to look like a real mango (the things you can find and a good Asian grocery store!).
But in every day life, there are a lot of things that look good, that look like they can carry us through this crazy journey, but only God can. Reading through 1 Samuel, it’s sad how Saul rejected the Lord and then tried to have a good life anyway. His life gives a poignant reminder that apart from God there really are no other good options.
1 Samuel 28:5-7 says, “And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor.”
What a mess; what a tragedy! How about your life? Is it marked by God or by the best you can do without God?
Today's Bible reading is 1 Samuel 28.
