Look alike

Cleo had to get some stitches yesterday. She’s wearing a protective suit to let the wound heal, and we enjoyed how much she looks like the dog on the box!

That’s fun, but it would be weird if we mixed the 2 dogs up!

Sometimes we may think God’s help looks just like people’s help, but God never fails even when people do.

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭says, “Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons? So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.”

Maybe if Elkanah wanted to be a comfort to his wife, he should’ve stuck with just one wife or at least not bragged himself up as just the comfort Hannah needed.

Hannah’s  husband wasn’t much comfort, but God was.

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭says, “Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.”

God is a comfort that no one else can be. Sometimes that comfort comes with the results we’re praying for, but it’s always a comfort that no one else can offer.

Today’s Bible reading is 1 Samuel 1.
