If I could turn back time…
This clock in my classroom gets a signal from an atomic clock by way of satellite. When I put a new battery in it this morning, time never went backward, but it did run super fast right up until noon and then it started over. Seemed about like the most Monday thing ever!😆
It was a really good day but I’m sure you’ve had days where it seemed like time went extra fast or extra slow. Have you ever wished you could turn back the clock and get a do-over?
If we follow the Spirit more and more every moment, we’ll wish for do-overs less and less.
1 Samuel 24:4-5 says, “And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.”
David found Saul before Saul could find David, and David had the opportunity to kill Saul if he chose to.
So it’s remarkable that David felt conviction and perhaps wanted a do-over, not for actually hurting Saul but for cutting off a piece of his clothing.
David followed God so closely that he knew right away when he’d gone too far, even when everyone else there would say that he didn’t do anything wrong.
If we’ll let the Holy Spirit lead us like that we won’t need to turn back time for a do-over.
Today's Bible reading is 1 Samuel 24.
