How to stand tall no matter what
Who’s taller: Addison or Brooklyn?
It’s amazing to watch our girls grow up and fun to see them constantly want to be taller than each other.
Sometimes we need to stand tall no matter our height.
1 Samuel 17:28 says, “And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.”
What battle? No one was doing battle because no one was brave enough to face Goliath!
And we’ve read about David’s brother Eliab already: “And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him.” (1 Samuel 16:6)
He was taller than David, maybe the tallest brother, and yet it was David who stood tall against the giant Goliath.
David stood tall because he stood for the Lord.
1 Samuel 17:46 says, “This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”
Let’s all stand tall for God today.
Today's Bible reading is 1 Samuel 17.
