I could try to help, but it wouldn’t do any good 

It was sad to find this abandoned bird nest in my backyard today. I’m sure it fell out of a tree above, but mama bird is probably long gone. I could lift it up into the tree, but it wouldn’t do any good. My help wouldn’t actually help. 

We all need help, but we need the right kind of help. God‘s help is worth more than a million people‘s help if they are going the wrong way.

Joshua‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ says, “Wherefore Adoni-zedec king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying, Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.”

They ganged up on Gibeon (and by extension Joshua and Israel), but God was greater.

God gave Israel an amazing victory, and Joshua made a huge request so that he could complete the victory: “Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; And thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, Until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.” (Joshua‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬-‭13‬). 

Who are you trusting in today? Yourself? A group of people, even though they are offering you the world’s solutions that contradict what the Bible says? 

I hope we’re each trusting in God for the big and the small today.
