Why do we need to take time to remember?
Our VBS decorations are coming right along! In honor of America turning 250, we decided to decorate with red, white, and blue and celebrate our freedom in America and, even more importantly, our freedom in Christ for those who’ve been saved.
So why do we need to take time to remember?
So that we don’t forget! And so that we don’t take things for granted.
Numbers 28:1-2 says, “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.”
Some people wonder why God needed sacrifices like that, but He didn’t. God doesn’t need anything; those sacrifices helped the people remember God and acknowledge their need for Him.
God doesn’t need us, but we need Him every single day. And it’s one of the most amazing truths ever that God wants a relationship with us.
Looking back can give us the confidence to move forward.
The Israelites needed to move forward into the Promised Land, and we each have a lot to move forward into. Let’s be intentional about honoring God, remembering what He’s done for us, and acknowledging how much we need Him.
Happy July 4 everyone and Happy 250th America! May we always be thankful for our freedoms in this great country and for our freedoms in Christ.
Today’s Bible reading is Numbers 28.
