We either celebrate or forget

Some of our best summertime memories over the years are in backyard pools! I’m grateful for the memories and that we are still making more memories.

Memories are special, but they fade if we let them.

Deuteronomy 16:1 says, “Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.”

In the Old Testament, God told Israel to keep multiple feasts each year, and each one was to remind them of something important.

Our natural tendency is to forget, but we need to remember what’s most important and let those most important truths shape our daily lives.

The Passover offers a wonderful picture of what Christ did for us on the cross as He took our place. We celebrate Easter and we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection every Sunday as we gather for church, but we need to make sure we remember every single day and that those memories shape our lives.

Today’s Bible reading is Deuteronomy 16.
