The cast is off!

We are grateful God healed B’s arm and that she doesn’t have to wear that cast any more! We also appreciate that her cast was removable for her growth plate injury since she had some definite skin irritation under it as we went to camp and all. Times of relief were a help that wouldn’t have been available with a standard fiberglass cast. 

That being said, it’s probably good that most casts aren’t removable. Otherwise people would probably take them off too soon and not let them do their job. 

Deuteronomy 17:18-19 says, “And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:”

Long before Israel had a king, God set up regulations that kings would need to follow. 

They were to write God’s Word, read God’s Word, and, most importantly, keep it. Follow it. 

A normal cast will surround and protect a broken bone…if it’s kept on and allowed to work. And God’s Word will surround and protect our lives…if we not only know it but live it. 

We need to surround ourselves with Scripture by reading it, meditating on it, talking about it, hearing it taught and preached, even teaching it ourselves in whatever ways God wants us to. But being surrounded by Scripture doesn’t do all that much good unless we internalize it and follow it. 

Today’s Bible reading is Deuteronomy 17.
