No matter how much life tries to beat us down, God sees our heart and helps us get back up.

Weird thing to try, but if you pound down on the knife, the potato climbs up. Inertia can be a real help, and God seeing our heart can be life-changing.

Numbers‬ ‭35‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭says, “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan; then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.”

The system of cities of refuge might sounds difficult and confusing, but it was a way for God to protect people whose heart was not murderous.

Long before our modern legal system with degrees of murder/manslaughter, God already recognized that the heart and motives behind each wasn’t always the same. So consequences should differ as well.

As we all face different life situations, we can get knocked around and misunderstood. Hopefully our situations don’t involve killing anyone, but God always sees what’s really going on in our hearts.

Is your heart for God and for truth?

Anything in your heart that needs to change right now?

Today’s Bible reading is Numbers 35.
