Do you mean it?

Cleo is always close by, especially when we’re in the kitchen. She’s always hoping we’ll drop something.

Her attention is nice and she seems to want to be with us, but I’m not sure she means it!

That’s funny with a mooching dog but can be serious with people who don’t mean what they say.

Numbers‬ ‭30‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭says, “And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded. If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.”

We should mean what we say.

In Matthew 5:37 Jesus said, But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Psalms 15:4 describes how good it is to keep our word by valuing the person

“that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.”

Honesty and keeping our word matters a lot to God, so it should matter a lot to us.

Today’s Bible reading is Numbers 30.
