Stronger together; in this together

The crazy storm that took out half the trees in Chambersburg yesterday (slight exaggeration!) couldn’t harm the trees in the middle of this row. But it badly damaged the isolated trees on either side of that gap.

There is strength in numbers, especially when everyone is going the same way.

Numbers 2:1-2 says, “And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 2 Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.”

The army was getting numbered and organized to move into the Promised Land. Sadly they would soon hit a 40-year delay, but I love the reminder that the plan was for them to face battles with each other and with God.

That’s true for Christians today as well. Satan loves to make us feel isolated and alone (Elijah struggled there in a big way, and God reminded him he wasn’t alone and sent him Elisha to serve with and invest in).

God offers many reminders that we are stronger together and in this together

Today’s Bible reading is Numbers 2.
