Family time
Addison and Brooklyn are performing in their Sleeping Beauty ballet today and tomorrow. We are very proud of them and eager to support them.
A couple years ago they had 3 shows for their performance of the Nutcracker, and we figured we’d just go to 1-2 of them. We quickly regretted it and realized we definitely wanted to be there every show while they were performing!
Family time is important enough to devote that time.
Leviticus 27:28-29 says, “Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD. None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.”
“every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD”
Devoted: set aside, committed to a specific purpose
Leviticus 27 speaks in a specific context, but as Christians, we should all be fully devoted to God.
1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
The price of our salvation was high. We can’t earn it, but we can show our gratitude for it.
1 Corinthians 7:23 says, “Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.”
It’s easy to get tempted to become the servants of people by seeking their approval or by obeying man rather than God. We can also become the servants of our own wrong desires instead of God’s desires for us.
Are we willing to be devoted to God?
Today’s Bible reading is Leviticus 27.
