When does sin start? When does sin stop?

We tried to sell everything, even the kitchen sink!🤣

Fun yard sale this morning. The girls got to sell some toys they’ve outgrown including the kitchen set.

Obviously we aren’t selling our actual kitchen sink, but sometimes we need to be that thorough to get rid of everything, especially when it comes to things that go against God’s plans and God’s boundaries.

Whether it’s temptation, excuses, or a refusal to repent, a lot of things have to go for us to avoid sin or stop sinning once we’ve started down that path.

Exodus‬ ‭32‬:‭1‬ ‭says, “And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.”

They believed in superstition not God in some ways.

They also believed in Moses not God in some ways.

That all began a while before they actually made an idol or worshipped it.

Then, when they should’ve quickly repented, they kept it going.

Exodus‬ ‭32‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭says, “And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief. For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.”

Aaron blamed them for his sin. And he played one victim card more when he said “there came out this calf” MAGICALLY??? Of course not! It had to be intentionally shaped.

Sin stops when we repent. Excuses, blaming, and dishonesty all keep sin going.

Let’s respond Biblically to temptation and be quick to repent when we sin.

Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 32.
