We need to worship God the way He tells us to
Ever do something for someone else without considering what they’d actually want? I think we do those things more for ourselves.
We came to pick the girls up from ballet, which is good and helpful. If we followed them around and filmed them during their class, not so much!
There is a right way and a wrong way to do things, and when it comes to worshiping God, it makes sense that He’d help us see the right way to worship Him
Leviticus 17:2-5 says, “Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, saying, What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp, and bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people: to the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.”
There was a right way and a right place to offer sacrifices.
We don’t worship through Old Testament sacrifices today (thankfully!), but we can worship in song, Bible reading, going to church, loving the people Jesus loves (and that’s everyone), and giving our best to whatever we do. We can worship by seeking first God’s kingdom not our own kingdom. And we can worship the way God tells us to worship in the Bible, not the most culturally accepted or popular way. As John 4:24 tells us, let’s worship in spirit and in truth.
Today’s Bible reading is Leviticus 17.
