I like the sentiment: Be you even if you’re a little unique like that mug. But we should never “be us” in any ways that go beyond what God says.
Sin is often pictured in the Bible by the skin disease leprosy.
Leviticus 13:1-2 says, “And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, saying, When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it be in the skin of his flesh like the plague of leprosy; then he shall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his sons the priests:”
Seems like they’d need to go to a doctor not a priest! I mean, I’m a pastor; am I supposed to diagnose and help with diseases? No!
But Leviticus 13 and other passages make it clear how to diagnose and quarantine a person with leprosy since it’s extremely contagious.
So priests were well equipped to know and follow God’s directions and to help others follow God’s ways too.
It’s only fitting that spiritual leaders would lead the way in following God and dealing with leprosy.
Anyone who helps us follow what God says is a blessing. And hopefully we are helping ourselves follow God as we spend time in His Word and genuinely desire to live it out.
Today’s Bible reading is Leviticus 13.
