Why the sacrifices? 

The Old Testament sacrificial system can be confusing. We know it looked forward to Jesus, our perfect ultimate sacrifice. We also know that it was a way for the Israelites to follow God’s plan for their sins. 

And Exodus‬ ‭29‬:‭46‬ ‭gives a helpful perspective: “And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.”

God cannot ignore sin. The sacrificial system allowed the Israelites to have fellowship with God in many ways. 

Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross has done that for us as well. Are you enjoying that fellowship?
