Why does God want us to pray?

Because time together is important.

I definitely value time I get to spend with my wife. We wouldn’t have a very good relationship if we never talked or spent time together.

God doesn’t need time with us, but He knows the value of time with us. He knows what we need before we pray, but he wants to spend time with us in prayer.

Exodus‬ ‭30‬:‭1‬ ‭says, “And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of shittim wood shalt thou make it.”

A couple other verses gives some clues about what incense represented.

Psalms 141:2 says, “Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.”

Revelation 5:8 says, “And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.”

God loves prayer. Let’s pray more and not out of duty but out of love and relationship.

Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 30.
