Take time to praise even when things don’t work out like they’re supposed to

Maybe especially when things don’t work out like they’re supposed to!

Our cat Boots has to eat a prescription food, and we’re not supposed to run out…except we did. Things didn’t work out like they’re supposed to, but thankfully Jen was able to get another bag of the food early so that Boots can eat tonight!

Life has a lot of inconveniences and then some bigger deals that can discourage us. We can always complain, but praise is the better choice.

Exodus‬ ‭15‬:‭1‬ ‭says, “Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.”

‭‭

They were off to a great start praising after crossing the Red Sea on dry ground and seeing the Egyptian army destroyed, but sadly it wouldn’t last long.

Exodus‬ ‭15‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭says, “So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?”

‭‭

God had a solution for this problem as well. They could’ve kept praising even before they saw how it would all work out, but we often aren’t any better at that either.

We can always complain, but it’ll be much better if we continue to praise God even when things don’t seem to be working out as we expected.

Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 15.
