Looks a little sketchy!🤣

I took Brooklyn to breakfast this morning at Chick-fil-A and things started great but then got a bit sketchy!🤣 We had a great time, but some things are beyond sketchy and are just plain wrong.

Exodus‬ ‭22‬:‭28‬ ‭says, “Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.”

‭‭

Sometimes the word translated gods (elohim) in this verse means God. Maybe here it refers to earthly rulers (false gods obviously aren’t real). What is clear: We obviously shouldn’t revile God (so many other places in Scripture make this clear!) or revile the authorities God chooses to places in our lives.

The apostle Paul even quoted the second part of this verse in Acts 23:5: “Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.”

It’s easy to focus on how wrong authority is at times, but it’s more than a little sketchy to criticize those who God is choosing to use in our lives.

It’s not that they never make mistakes. It’s that God never makes mistakes. He’s put every authority we have into our lives for specific reasons.

Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 22.
