Honor
We had the privilege to be at the parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of our country today in Chambersburg. America was honored in a fun way. America isn’t perfect, but it is a very blessed place.
I hope we honor the best of things in America so we get more of the best of things. And in our individual lives, we also get more of what we honor.
So it’s concerning how many of us wear stress and business like a badge of honor.
Exodus 18:17-20 says, “And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: and thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.”
Moses was doing too much on his own. He needed to train some help and delegate.
We should be busy for God, but if we wear stress and overwork like a badge of honor, we are most likely working for ourselves instead of working for God. Let’s honor God’s work in our lives and through our lives.
Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 18.
