Easier to read from the front!
I love the Easter message Jen picked out for our church lawn! Obviously it’s intended to be read from the front, but I suppose it is a reminder that some things just don’t make as much sense from the only angle we can see them from. That doesn’t mean God isn’t doing something great.
Exodus 1 describes the start to Israel’s awful years in slavery to Egypt.
Verse 7 says, “And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.”
Verse 12 says, “But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.”
Verse 20 says, “Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.”
I can’t wrap my mind around d why God allowed His chosen people to be enslaved, but I can see that He was still at work blessing them.
Romans 8:31 says, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”
Of course enemies and difficult circumstances exist. They just don’t ultimately win!
So why focus on who/what is against us?
Focusing on problems leads to complaining, discouragement, despair, and a temptation to quit.
Focusing on God leads to peace, joy, encouragement, and the ability to continue even though circumstances haven’t changed.
Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 1.
