Doesn’t show up very well!

I’m still learning this Vibe board at school (I’m kinda old school in some ways, so teaching from a smart board is still fairly new for me). Yesterday, I accidentally selected a white marker and started writing. My class and I were surprised that we could still see it (sort of!). It definitely didn’t stand out.

Sadly that reminds me of how we can often be tempted to treat our own sin: to downplay it or even try to cover it up so that it doesn’t stand out as much.

We need to make sin stand out in our lives instead of ignoring it. What I mean is, we need to agree with God about our sin, to call it what it is and truly repent.

Exodus‬ ‭9‬:‭27‬ ‭says, “And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.”

‭‭

True repentance means we agree with God about our sin; it’s a change of mind that produces a change in action and direction. Unfortunately action and direction proved that Pharaoh was not truly repentant.

The plagues, the consequences stood out to Pharaoh but not his sin or his need for true repentance.

Let’s not ignore or hide our own sin. Let’s confess it and, with God’s help, move ahead in the right direction.

Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 9.
