Choose to trust no matter how uncertain a situation feels
Addison and Brooklyn (and Jen) got to guess which candy bar they were holding just by feeling it. I gave them multiple choice, and they did great!
For a lot of things, feelings just aren’t the best guide to truth though.
Exodus 16:25-26 says, “And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.”
God sent supernatural food—manna—for the hundreds of thousands of Israelites to eat and gave them simple instructions including gathering extra on Friday so that Saturday could be a sabbath day of rest.
That sounds simple enough, but I’m sure it didn’t feel simple. Imagine trusting God that the extra food wouldn’t be rotten by Saturday morning when any other day it would be! Many Israelites were parents with lots of mouths to feed including their own. I’m sure it didn’t feel simple…but it was.
Sadly, despite God’s provision, some still disobeyed.
Do you make decisions based on truth or feelings? Based on what God says or based only on what you can easily and immediately see in front of you?
Our feelings aren’t the source of truth, but God sure is!
Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 16.
