A day in the life of a pastor!
Sometimes life is glamorous; other times it’s hauling old stuff away. I’m thankful our township does bulky pickup and helps us get rid of extra stuff from garages and sheds. I personally love that ministry involves everything from preaching to mowing the lawn to junk removal! We all have lots of ordinary tasks we get to do in the service of our extraordinary God.
Exodus records that God gave Israel the law, and they agreed to follow it. Moses and over 70 other people got to go up onto the mountain and catch glimpses of God’s glory as they spent time in the presence of God.
Exodus 24:11 says, “And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.”
I’m sure they worshipped.
I’m sure they thought deep, spiritual thoughts.
And I love that they also ate and drank: they did normal stuff too.
God wants to “do life” with us. He’s with us for the extraordinary and the ordinary.
Obviously there are things we shouldn’t do, but in every good thing we do, let’s do it with God and for His glory.
Doing ordinary things with our extraordinary God is one of the greatest privileges of the Christian life.
Today’s Bible reading is Exodus 24.
