Sometimes rough edges have to go for the best things to stand out

No, I didn’t actually sand that whole picnic table with a loose piece of sandpaper. In fact, a couple guys in our church sanded it with power sanders and did a great job.

We’ll stain it soon, and it’s already looking better than ever. Sometimes rough edges have to go for the best things to stand out.

Job 42 is the end of the book, and we get to see God bless Job after all the calamity Job went through. I doubt that any of it made sense to Job in the end, but we do see a better Job by the end of the book.

Job 42:5-6 says, “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”

Verde 10‬ ‭says, “And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.”

‭‭

God blessed Job in amazing ways, and perhaps the biggest blessing he got was the chance to grow in his faith, to become a bit more like God.

Romans 8:28-29 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

God brings a lot of good from a lot of bad situations, and the greatest good is to become a little more like Jesus. That was true for Job, and it’s true for us as well.

So if life’s a bit rough right now (sandpaper pun intended!), hang in there and let God use it all to help you grow.

Today’s Bible reading is Job 42.
