Name it and claim it?
I say Gators will win it all! I’m writing this at halftime, so we’ll see.
I can name it, but that doesn’t somehow make it come to be.
That’s a helpful reminder when we come to our view of God.
Elihu explained that if a person is right with God: “His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: He shall return to the days of his youth: He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: And he shall see his face with joy: For he will render unto man his righteousness.” (Job 33:25-26)
But that’s just not true! God is not a magic genie. He doesn’t automatically, immediately bless us just how we think He should if we do something good.
Name it and claim it? Say a prayer and look for the immediate result if you’re not living in sin? NO!
We can’t manipulate God into giving us whatever we want, but we can count on Him to always be good and give us whatever is best as we follow Him.
Today’s Bible reading is Job 33.
