Is the Bible true?

Some would claim it’s just a fairytale. I mean, it does seem to mention dragons!

Brooklyn has always loved dragons (why not!), but some people become skeptical when leviathan and other creatures get mentioned in the Bible. If only they’d take a closer look!

Job 41:1 says, “Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?”

Verses 19-23 says, “Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth. In his neck remaineth strength,

and sorrow is turned into joy before him.

The flakes of his flesh are joined together:

they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.”

Sounds like a dragon to me!

I personally believe this was a dragon, probably not like we saw in cartoons growing up, but “dragon” is what seems to fit the description.

And almost every ancient culture (from Mesopotamia to China, Greece, Rome, India, Persia the Aztecs, and the Mayans) mentions dragon-like creatures.

Maybe the Bible is describing something else; maybe those ancient cultures described something else. Either way, the Bible definitely is correct.

Many objections to the Bible just don’t make sense. For example, people will say the Bible doesn’t mention dinosaurs, but that’s because the word didn’t exist when the Bible was written and many English translations were made.

The Bible describes levitation and Behemoth (most likely an apatosaurus or similar creature).

It really can be easy to doubt the Bible based on a surface glance. But the deeper we dig into the Bible, the more the evidence shows that it’s real and true. How is the truth of the Bible affecting your life today?

Today’s Bible reading is Job 41.
