Chasing rainbows?
It kept getting farther away no matter how far we drove. Obviously that’s a perspective thing, but sometimes it may feel like we are chasing blessings but never quite getting there.
Sometimes it seems like those who reject God have it easier right now, but it won’t last. In Job 21, Job expresses that this way:
“Wherefore do the wicked live, Become old, yea, are mighty in power?” (Job 21:7)
“Their houses are safe from fear, Neither is the rod of God upon them.” (Job 21:9)
But Job also knew that those who reject God will be punished:
“God layeth up his iniquity for his children: He rewardeth him, and he shall know it.”
(Job 21:19)
“That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? They shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.”
(Job 21:30)
I’m always challenged by the thought that this earth is the closest thing to heaven those who reject God will ever know, but this life is the closest thing to hell followers of Jesus will ever know.
Faith in Jesus gives us the ultimate hope for eternity and the ultimate relationship for now and eternity.
Today’s Bible reading is Job 21.
