Broken down to be rebuilt stronger
As you probably know, when we exercise, our muscle fibers actually tear and then rebuild themselves stronger. That’s how we gain strength.
And that’s often similar to how we gain spiritual strength as well.
Job 16:11-12 says, “God hath delivered me to the ungodly, And turned me over into the hands of the wicked. I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: He hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, And set me up for his mark.”
I get that Job was exaggerating in his despair, but it’s definitely not easy to be broken down. Job does come out stronger in the end.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
And what’s the greatest good that can happen to us in this life? To become a little more like Jesus!
Verse 29 says, “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
God has a plan for everything He allows into our lives. It won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it.
Today’s Bible reading is Job 16.
