Add height by trying? Of course not!

But how many times have we all tried to get stuff done by worrying about it?

My wife is a bit taller than me. I could worry about that, but it wouldn’t do any good.

Matthew 6:27 says, “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?”

We never get more done by worrying; in fact usually far less.

In Job‬ ‭19‬:‭25‬-‭27‬ , Job gives an amazing reminder of hope when everything was crashing around him. He could’ve let worry defeat him, but instead he said, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, Yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, And mine eyes shall behold, and not another; Though my reins be consumed within me.”

‭‭

That’s eternal hope even during horrible circumstances.

Psalms 42:5 puts it this way: “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”

We can always worry, but it won’t do any good.

And with God in our lives, we can always hope. And real hope is a powerful thing!

Today’s Bible reading is Job 19.
