What should we do with the WHY question?
Have you ever wondered why?
Why me? Why now? Why that sickness? Why did I lose my job? Why is God taking me through this?
Maybe you wonder “Am I allowed to ask questions?”
Can I feel discouraged?
Do doubts mean my faith is weak or doesn’t even exist?
I think doubts and questions just mean we’re human, but it’s really important what we do with those doubts and questions.
So how can we struggle without stepping out of bounds?
Job 1:22 says, “In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.”
Job lost just about everything he had at the same time, and yet he still responded with Godly character. His amazing response includes 2 great boundaries for when we struggle with the why question:
- Don’t sin. Stay within obvious boundaries. Don’t do anything that will make a bad situation worse.
- Take your doubts to God instead of against God. Let’s make more normal to take our doubts and questions to God instead of jumping to blaming Him.
Today’s Bible reading is Job 1.
