One man’s trash is another cat’s treasure!

That might not be the real saying, but I think it works!

To you and me, it’s just an old box. To Boots, it’s a great nap spot! Depends on your viewpoint, I guess.

But sometimes it’s our viewpoint that’s  the problem, especially when our view doesn’t line up with God’s view.

What’s worse: Sometimes we think our wrong view actually comes from God. That’s dangerous!

Job 4 is the beginning of Job’s “friends” advice. As you may already know, they give terrible advice, and God even confronts them about it near the end of the book.

In Job‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬, Eliphaz says, “Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous cut off?”

‭‭

Eliphaz KNEW the tragedies Job was facing were punishment for Job’s sins…and he was completely wrong!

He was convinced his view was the only accurate one, that it even came from God, but that was absolutely false. Job was going through all that, not because of his sin, but because he was a part of God’s plan going on behind the scenes. Job’s story continues to bring God glory to this day.

We need to be careful to not “put words in God’s mouth” or to assume our view is correct when it’s just our opinion.

And we should be eager to have the things we go through bring glory to God as well.

Today’s Bible reading is Job 4.
