It starts at the edges

And that’s often true of a lot more than snow melting!

I love snow, and it’s kinda sad to see it starting to melt! I’m sure it’s melting everywhere during these sunny days, but especially along the edges.

It’s often “along the edges” that stuff creeps in, even for our lives.

Genesis‬ ‭36‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭says, “Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom. Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;”

Esau threw off most of his upbringing, any Godly influence he’d received, as he married multiple wives, and each of them was from a godless nation. His descendants turned out to be bad news in a frightening variety of ways. Maybe it seemed like his life was still solid, but the foundation was eroding from every edge.

We don’t always notice the subtle attacks: Satan sneaking his influence into our lives a little bit at a time, eroding the edges.

But rebellion never leads to freedom. It can sound so easy to throw off rules and Biblical restraints but it leads to more difficulty not less.

John 8:34 says, “Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”

Let’s keep our faith strong. Let’s keep our commitment to following God strong. The snow might melt along every edge, but the foundation of our lives doesn’t need to.
