Glow up

Maybe I’m just old, but, while I’d heard that phrase before, I wasn’t sure exactly what it meant. Apparently it’s just like it sounds: a positive transformation.

Not sure these Glow Up Sour Patch Kids will do that (and we didn’t have a black light to test their glow), but they were tasty!

If we want to actually Glow Up, we need to make sure it’s a genuinely positive change, not just something that makes us feel better about ourselves for a bit.

Acts 4:18-20 says, “And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

The people trying to silence the message of hope through Jesus probably felt better about themselves. They probably Glowed Up a bit because they looked better among their peers and gave Peter and John a hard time for sharing Jesus. But Peter and John had a hope and a change those persecutors couldn’t touch.

And when Peter and John reported back to some other Christians, I love the amazing response: “And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,” (Acts 4:29)

Jesus will change us if we let Him, and that’s the best reason ever to Glow Up.
