Don’t get sucked into not caring
Not caring and just doing things for ourselves is an easy trap to get sucked into.
That magnet sucked in the putty easily because the putty has metal in it to attract and trap it.
In Job 6, Job answers Eliphaz who had shared a lot of uncaring thoughts. In verses 14-15, Job says, “To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. 15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;”
Eliphaz’s words lacked truth but also seem to lack compassion as well.
Condemning others like Eliphaz had just done for 2 chapters often just makes us feel better about ourselves.
Genuinely caring means helping those we care about to grow. We need to point out shortcomings and sins lovingly to help people up not to shove them down.
If Job had sin in his life, the most caring thing Eliphaz could’ve done would have been to lovingly point it out so Job could repent.
Do you care enough about other people to genuinely help them instead of trying to just make yourself feel better? Let’s never let ourselves get sucked into the trap of not caring.
Today’s Bible reading is Job 6.
