Bridge may NOT be icy

Some warnings don’t come true. I’m sure we’ve all seen “bridge may be icy” signs. Wind going underneath and no ground to insulate it, a bridge can be extra icy. But on our hike on Monday, this bridge was one of the only spots that WASN’T!

Warning signs are helpful, and predictions can be great.

Would you want to know everything that’s going to happen for the rest of your life?

That would probably overwhelm and terrify most of us, but we can have peace in the fact that God knows what’s coming our way.

Genesis‬ ‭49‬:‭1‬ ‭says, “And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.”

Here at the end of his life, Jacob gives predictions for his sons. It seems obvious that this was through inspiration of God because the predictions were so accurate. Those sons became the 12 tribes of Israel, and obviously God did amazing things through their lives.

God also has an amazing future for us. It might be overwhelming to hear it all at one time right now, but to live it out day by day is exciting.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

That was written to Israel, but it holds true for all of us who follow God today as well.

Today’s Bible reading is Genesis 49.
