Who’s already looking forward to Christmas 2026?
Is it too late to have Christmas decor up? We’re slowly starting to take things down, but I’m definitely not in a hurry because Christmas decorations are just cheerful! Soon it’ll all be put away so we can look forward to decorating again next December.
I love having good things to look forward to, and Genesis 4 alludes to the best of all.
Genesis 4:1 says, “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.”
The name Cain meant “acquisition” or “I’ve got him.” Many people believe that Eve chose that name and made that comment because God had already promised one of her descendants would be the Savior, and she figured it was her first-born son. Even if that’s not why, I’m sure Eve was eagerly looking for her Savior to come.
Later on, Adam and Eve had another son named Seth. Genesis 4:26 says, “And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.”
Have you looked to the Lord for salvation?
Are you looking forward to what He has planned for today, or are you limiting today to just the best you can come up with?
If you’d like to read through the Old Testament with us, today’s reading is Genesis 4.
