Reason #112 why I love winter: Tap water is cold and delicious!
Yes, I drink tap water sometimes. And yes, I just made up that 112 number!
I do love winter though, even with this rather extreme cold we’re in at the moment.
Maybe you like the cold…as long as you’re not out in it! I’ll definitely say I like being out in the cold as long as the cold isn’t in me! Once I get a chill, I’m out!
Genesis 20 records the second sad occasion when Abraham said his wife was his sister so that another man wouldn’t kill him to take her. Well, she quickly caught the eye of Abimelech, a king of a presumably ungodly country.
Thankfully Abimelech had more character than Abraham in this situation.
After God revealed the truth to him, Genesis 20:6 says, “And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.”
Verses 10-11 say, “And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.”
Apparently the fear of God was in that place but sadly not in Abraham at that moment!
We can’t blame the world for our heart issues. If God is filling our lives, the world around us won’t affect us that much, but if the world gets in us, we’re in trouble.
Today’s Bible reading is Genesis 20.
