Meant to be!

Happy birthday to our Brooklyn Grace! She was meant to be our daughter even before we knew anything about her, and now she’s 10!

Jen was very excited to wrap her up in that same sweater today that she wore exactly 10 years ago!

Birthdays give us all a special opportunity to look back on what God has done for us in the last year, and as parents, looking back on what God has done throughout our girls’ lives is extra special!

Really any day of the year, self reliance leads to pride and failure, but relying on God leads to humility, worship, and God-defined success (which is the best kind).

Genesis‬ ‭24‬:‭7‬ ‭says, “The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.”

‭‭

Abraham knew God had a plan, a bride in mind for his son Isaac. He knew God had it all worked out if he’d just rely on God and His plan. Abraham passed the vision onto his servant who went to find a Godly bride for Isaac.

In Genesis‬ ‭24‬:‭14‬-‭15‬, the servant acts on amazing faith: “And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master. And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.”

“Before he and done speaking”: Wouldn’t you know it, God had it all worked out ahead of time!

Let’s trust God even before we see things work out.

And when it all works out, let’s praise God instead of trying to take credit ourselves for what God has done for us.
